Approval-seeking

The characteristic within a person’s behaviour where they seek the consent, praise, appreciation, or acknowledgement, of another person, or persons, on a repeated basis, or as a personal habit, in order for them to feel validated.

Approval-seekers generally only give themselves approval upon receiving it from others. Equally, an approval-seeker will not give themselves approval, if they don’t receive it from another.
